Summary: I like it.
Comment: I ordered it two days ago and received it today. The setup is really easy, and I am very satisfied with the sound quality. It took me two phone calls to port my number. I waited for 20 minutes at the first time (6pm EST) before being told to leave my name and a phone number by the automate system. About 30 minutes later, I gave it a second try and got very professional help after waiting for about 16 minutes.
The scout has not been set up correctly. I plugged a cable from the phone jack on the wall to "wall" on the scout, and then connected the power adapter. The red light was on and off in the first row, then on and off in the second row, and then on forever in the third row even after 20 minutes. I am not sure if it is due to the porting process. In order to port my phone number, my current setting is to connect the "wall" on the hub to the internet/phone modem provided by Cablevision (I am using the triple play) and the "phone" on the hub to the wall jack. I will provide a follow up after the porting is completed.

Comment: I love this box. The voice quality is equal to a landline phone.
I had magic jack. Lets just say you get what you pay for when it comes to voice quality. No comparison. Magic jack had an echo whenever I would call someone. I never got rid of it. Magic jack also had to be running on my computer 24-7. This is a stand alone box.
I had Vonage for a couple of years before. Vonage has good voice quality but it cost me $35 a month where I live with taxes. At that price, this box pays for itself in 6 months.
I have some advice for anyone considering buying Ooma. When I first tried it out, it had some echo. I called tech support (waited about 10 min.) and they fixed it the next day. So if you get the box and it echos, give em a call. They'll fix it.

Comment: Don't be fooled by advertising gimmick. Ooma is not free. You have to pay $250 upfront for the equiment and then you have to pay additional amount each month for user fee, feature fee, voice mamil fee, E911 fee, activation fee, cancelllation fee (read the fine print) etc which amounts to about $15 per month.
IOn the otherhand Vonage gives you equipment free of charge and charge you $25 per month. So do your own math.
Don't get carried away in advertising hype
